Fountain Telling

I hope you enjoy your own magical experience! – Kristen Brooks, owner

My story began with my father, Jonathon, the craftsman and founder of Carolina Pen Company. His dedication to creating handcrafted materials and pens helped spark the passion in me to continue a craft that is slowly fading out of existence. Through many very patient hours, he taught me how to create materials that were consistent and creative.

What grew from the knowledge I gained was more than a business, it became a form of alchemy. The gathering of the micas and dyes were my ingredients to a spell, the raw material they created transforming into tools of expression and creativity. Each piece we make carries that origin forward.

The journey my father started I now follow, though frequently down different rabbit holes. I aspire to continue to create not just materials, but the stories they will one day hold. In the end, these are more than just tools, they are the beginning of someone else’s story.

And now, the story continues… one pen, one material, one piece of quiet magic at a time. A spell that is never truly finished, simply passed from one set of hands to another. One that is carried forward in ink, inspiration, and intention.

Meet Our Owner

Elizabeth “Kristen” Brooks

Kristen is our owner and lead artist of Fountain Telling. They bring the life force of the brand, creating individual works of art.

Taught by their father and shaping their own creative path, each material and design is shaped by both tradition and imagination. Each pour, every design, carries intention, made for those who see writing not just as function, but as ritual, expression, and a little bit of magic.

“Creating this company started out as a hobby dream and has become something truly magical. The support of fellow pen and blank makers in the community gave me the confidence to pursue a dream that has become a reality. I am thrilled to be doing something I deeply enjoy and am elated to see where this goes in the future.”
